Why Is Healthcare So Expensive?
Nov 11th, 2008 |
Drug companies need research money and doctors have to cover their rears from lawsuits. Also many of us lead lifestyles that are unhealthy. By taking charge of our lives and taking better care of ourselves, we can lead longer, healthier lives and spend less on healthcare.
A few simple things you can do include:
Get 8 hours of sleep a night
Eat healthier
Stop smoking
Cut down or eliminate alcohol consumption and
Exercise
Stay Smart Stay Healthy

THis video is bogus …
THis video is bogus propaganda that refuses to compare the gov run health programs of healthcare in Canada and England. THere they spend 9% of GNP to cover 100%
Here we spend 19% to cover 60% of the population. We have a system that is rigged to the benefit of insurance hopital and drug companies and at the expense of the population.
These industries have the cash to brainwash us with ads every other second on CNN. ThIS IS ANOTHER PART OF THAT CAMPAIGN

This video is from Humana, an insurance company. They lied about administration costs. In the US administrative costs account for 1/3 of total spending where in other countries it’s 1/6th. This is a difference of $400 billion a year! Universal healhcare is much more cost effective because insurance companies aren’t wasting it with overhead, advertising, and putting it into their pockets. Healthcare is a right, not something for insurance companies to get rich off of.

Switching to a …
Switching to a health based model rather than a profit based model is the best change the US could make. Many procedures cost as much as twice as much more in the states than in other countries. This is because they follow a profit model. Insurance companies waste money on administrative, accounting, and advertising resulting in much higher costs. Medical bills are a large contributor to home foreclosure. This should not happen. Healthcare is a right!

For those of you that don’t like the current health care system, I agree it sucks, but please don’t make the mistake of thinking that our current system remotely represents a free market system, because it doesn’t. Look at what happens to the cost of health care when consumers have to pay out of pocket, like LASIK or cosmetic surgery for example. The cost goes down and service is excellent.

Healthcare is so expensive because we typically spend thousands of dollars to keep each sick, old, dying person alive for a few months longer than they normally would live.

Actually, 3-4% is pretty accurate for profit margin. That’s PROFIT. Overhead is not factored in to profit, and overhead includes salaries, bonuses, technology, employee benefits. So, 3-4% is pretty accurate.

I have seen the health care in Canada. I would send my sick dog tp a hospital in Canada. oh it may be cheaper, but not always free. A friend in Canada was having bad back problems. When it came to the point he needed surgery, he was cut out of the free health care and was told he would have to pay or not get it at all.
You get what you pay for. Yoou pay cheap, you get cheap. You pay nothing, you get nothing.

Healthcare in US is expensive because your country have been runned by retard republicans for a long time. Here in Norway and also other nordic countries we pay zero for basic healthcare and get very cheap specialist treatment because we have a very good tax system

Healthcare is so expensive because of Bush and all the other retard republican presidents. Just look at Norway or other countries here up north. We dont pay much. Basic healthcare is free, and other specialist treatments are also very cheap because our tax system works that way.

That would be ideal, but for profit to be 0% it’d have to be supported by the government.

I wonder why the video hardly mentioned profit and put it at 3%
Oh wait, the video is from Humana (private insurance company). No wonder!
One of mans greatest inhumanities toward man in this country is that some people are making money off of others who are sick. Profit should be 0% in my opinion.
