Counting the cost of US healthcare 17 Nov 08
Nov 22nd, 2008 |
Beyond reviving the US economy, many Americans are hoping a new US president can address problems with the country’s health care system, where even the most common treatments are expensive, and private insurance is often the only protection for anyone who falls ill.

What capitalism …
What capitalism wants is the value you feel, not the value you get. Pack everything into a highrise usually give you an impression of accessable, yet this builds hard ways to train and hard ways to contribute. They should spread them into proportions so the holes get obvious and fill out spot by spot easily.

I totally agree, …
I totally agree, there is no one there to help, Drs costs are astronomical, health care-if you can afford it, doesnt cover much. Forget about going to the dentist with an abscessed tooth. You could die in his office, unless you put the cash on the desk they wont even talk to you. I am way way out of the middle class- I am now been demoted to the status of poverty level. No bail-out for me ! I have no jet to fly me off to Wahington and cry for a hand out.

My opinion cannot …
My opinion cannot be changed that Health Care should be a state industry, but I will read the article you have. Fixing a decent system (Canada) is not difficult. There is an unbelievable amount of wasteful spending by the govt in Canada, as in many states. When I do read about how people lobby/advocate for increasing funding, improving conditions, or changing aid to other sectors, it often gets quite discouraging to see so many people effectively disenfranchised - essentially powerless.

Okay. I understand …
Okay. I understand what you’re saying. Waiting a few hours (few = ~3 hours) is pretty good in comparison to the NYC hospital shown in the video. About the regulation in health care - I think that the Canadian system could be perfected far more easily than the US “system”. In Canada it would be a matter of increasing funding to increase availability. Canada does have a shorage of Prim. Care physicians, however you are wrong in saying that the majority do not have access to a Primarycare physician

When prices are …
When prices are zero, demand exceeds supply, and queues form. For many Canadians, hospital emergency rooms have become their primary doctor — as is the case with Medicaid patients in the United States. Patients lie in temporary beds in emergency rooms, sometimes for days. At Sainte-Justine Hospital, a major Montreal pediatric hospital, children often wait many hours before they can see a doctor.

Hardly, according …
Hardly, according to a growing body of academic evidence. As a result of interference at the federal and state levels, health care is one of America’s most heavily regulated industries. Indeed, its muddled approach to health-care regulation may act as a massive drag on the American economy—what one expert has called a $169 billion hidden tax.

but in your not …
but in your not careful you spawn reverse racism, I am white(not trash) and my family tree probably goes right back to those times, but what happen to the Natives makes me completely sick. That happened EVERYWHERE, Africa-Austrailia-lots of Asia-everywhere-even europe and the middle east. It wasnt the people pushed out of Europe. The puritans ran from the elite, but the elite of most of Europe followed and took control as they always have of the natives and european run aways(colonialism)

The sole illigal aliens in that bankrupt ‘nation’ called the US of A are the white trash who, basically, got forced out of Europe because they were unwanted (Puritan founding Epic Failures as an example). The country belongs to the native people who got robbed and slaughtered. That’s another reason why the world has no respect for the USA, the country deserves none. Ran by the corporations, for the corporations.

The fascist …
The fascist ramblings of the corporate brainwashed are so boring to read. The only reason why the corporations resist universal healthcare, while the populace wants it, is that they will lose out. They will lose profits because the government will determine how much they can charge for their overpriced placebo’s (the majority of prescribed medication is placebo). Keep blaming it on ‘illigal’ aliens, the bums, the lazy and whoever else you have been told by Fox to blame.

Sadly, reading what PaperWitness wrote, I think he speaks for allot of people in the USA. Theyhave this mentality. Health Care in the USA is only for the Healthy, for this reason, US is not ready to have a single-payer system or Socialized health, dental, and vision care system. Problems doesn’t get solved by purchaing private insurance, because Docotrs still spend havethe day fighting with INS companies over visits and treatment they do not want to pay for, instead pocketing all the payments.

300 million in USA & only 50 million uninsured. I’d have to say that’s pretty good.
What no one seems to be thinking about is this. You’ll all so happy that your Obamagod has been elected, and yes, I do hope he does a good job.
BUT!
I’m now going to have to pay for everyone’s abortions when I’m against them.Unless for health reasons.
And yes, I’ve been without health insurance too,it’s called “Life”. You simply deal with it and give it to God. We are about to become USA of Welfare.

Sadly, I’ve been one of these uninsured folks for 4 years. The problem is who do we go to when we get a broken foot or have to take our children to get examined. Because I am neither poor nor rich, but in the middle, I don’t qualify for insurance to get that broken foot repaired or take my little brother to the hospital when he has one of his violent spasms. Thanks American government for backing me up in all those times of medical needs. Oh, the downside of being a middle class American…

Ignorant people like that really deserve the corrupt politicians they r getting. You guys should fund the corporations even more by donating money to them before bad poor people take it away from u.

No one on earth is alive illegally. And no one can show a document or deed from God of who belongs where. And if people had better brains, you wouldn’t need any money.
